Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a musculoskeletal disorder of the wrist caused by pressure on the median nerve in the carpal tunnel, causing pain, tingling, and numbness. Motorcycle taxi drivers are at risk of developing CTS due work, working duration, and poor wrist posture. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a significant relationship between work tenure, duration of work, and wrist position with CTS among motorcycle taxi drivers in Airmadidi. This study used a descriptive correlation method with a cross-sectional approach. The population was motorcycle taxi drivers actively working in the Airmadidi area. The sample size of 84 respondents who met the criteria was obtained using accidental sampling. The measuring instruments used were a questionnaire with proven validity and reliability and the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) to measure wrist position. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank formula due to non-normal distribution. The analysis results showed no significant association between work tenure (p=0.100), work duration (p=0.278), and wrist position (p=0.245) and CTS complaints. The conclusion is that there is no significant association between work tenure, work duration, and wrist position and CTS complaints among motorcycle taxi drivers in Airmadidi. Further research is recommended to examine other factors potentially associated with CTS complaints, such as Body Mass Index (BMI), medical history, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and other ergonomic risk factors.

 Sindrom terowongan karpal sebagai gangguan muskuloskeletal pada pergelangan tangan akibat tekanan pada saraf medianus di terowongan karpal, yang menimbulkan nyeri, kesemutan, dan kebas. Pengemudi ojek berisiko mengalami CTS karena lama kerja, durasi berkendara, dan postur pergelangan tangan yang tidak ergonomis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara lama kerja, durasi kerja, dan posisi pergelangan tangan dengan keluhan CTS pada pengemudi ojek di Airmadidi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pengendara ojek yang aktif bekerja di wilayah Airmadidi. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 84 responden yang memenuhi kriteria dan diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik Accidental Sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kuesioner yang telah teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya serta Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) untuk mengukur posisi pergelangan tangan. Data dianalisis menggunakan rumus Spearman Rank karena distribusi data tidak normal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara lama kerja (p=0,100), durasi kerja (p= 0,278), posisi pergelangan tangan (p=0,245) dengan keluhan CTS. Kesimpulannya adalah tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara lama kerja, durasi kerja, posisi pergelangan tangan dengan keluhan CTS pada pengemudi ojek di Airmadidi. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor lain yang berpotensi berhubungan dengan keluhan CTS, seperti Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT), riwayat penyakit, penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD), serta faktor risiko ergonomis lainnya.
