PERSEPSI MAHASISWA KEPERAWATAN TERHADAP KEHAMILAN REMAJA: STUDI FENOMENOLOGI

ABSTRACT
Adolescent pregnancy is a complex global health problem, affecting the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of young mothers and infants. Although the epidemiology and health risks of teenage pregnancy have been well documented, limited understanding exists regarding nursing students' perceptions of this phenomenon and how these perceptions shape their readiness to provide professional care. The purpose of this study was to explore nursing students' perceptions and meanings of teenage pregnancy and how these perceptions influence their readiness to provide professional, supportive, and non-judgmental healthcare services. This study used a phenomenological design with 9 nursing students (aged 19-22 years) from a private university in North Minahasa, Manado, Indonesia. The sample was selected through a purposive sampling technique with the following criteria: nursing students who had direct personal experience with teenage pregnancy (through family, friends, or neighbours). Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis approach. Results: Four main themes emerged: (1) Emotional turmoil and personal concerns; (2) teenage pregnancy as a multidimensional health risk; (3) transformation of perspective from stigma to a holistic professional view; (4) internalization of values of caring and non-judgmental attitudes. In conclusion, nursing education serves as a transformative force in shifting attitudes from stigma to empathy. However, there is a gap between intention and practice, requiring concrete communication skills, social support, and ongoing training. Integrating education on stigma, social determinants of health, and therapeutic communication into the nursing curriculum is crucial.
Kehamilan remaja merupakan masalah kesehatan global yang kompleks, mempengaruhi dimensi fisik, psikologis, dan sosial dari ibu muda dan bayi. Meskipun epidemiologi dan risiko kesehatan dari kehamilan remaja telah didokumentasikan dengan baik, pemahaman yang terbatas ada mengenai persepsi mahasiswa keperawatan tentang fenomena ini dan bagaimana persepsi tersebut membentuk kesiapan untuk memberikan perawatan profesional. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi persepsi dan makna kehamilan remaja menurut mahasiswa keperawatan serta bagaimana persepsi ini mempengaruhi kesiapan mereka untuk memberikan layanan kesehatan yang profesional, mendukung, dan tanpa menghakimi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain fenomenologi dengan 9 mahasiswa keperawatan (usia 19-22 tahun) dari sebuah universitas swasta di Minahasa Utara, Manado, Indonesia. Sampel dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria: mahasiswa keperawatan yang memiliki pengalaman pribadi langsung dengan kehamilan remaja (melalui keluarga, teman, atau tetangga) Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam semi-terstruktur dan dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan analisis tematik Braun dan Clarke. Hasil: Empat tema utama muncul: (1) Gejolak emosional dan keprihatinan personal; (2) kehamilan remaja risiko kesehatan multidimensional (3) transformasi perspektif dari stigma ke pandangan holistik profesional ; (4) internalisasi nilai-nilai kepedulian dan sikap tidak menghakimi. Kesimpulan, pendidikan keperawatan berfungsi sebagai kekuatan transformatif dalam mengubah sikap dari stigma menjadi empati. Namun, terdapat kesenjangan antara niat dan praktik, yang memerlukan keterampilan komunikasi yang konkret, dukungan sosial, dan pelatihan berkelanjutan. Integrasi pendidikan stigma, determinan sosial kesehatan, dan komunikasi terapeutik ke dalam kurikulum keperawatan sangat penting.
