Abstract

The influence of tribal beliefs and practices are still significant to Dani’s tribe in Papua, Indonesia eventhough it has been about 60 years since the Gospel entered this territory. Although most of Dani’s tribe had converted to Christianity but in reality when they are facing issues of life such as disasters, illness, death and so on then they will tend to return to their old beliefs. Does the church have to ignore the local culture or to acccept fully those beliefs and practices? What the church needs to do to face these issues.  What are the menthods that the church need to develop to approach this tribal communities so that they can remain as  faithful  Christians?
